Hull’s Pub Corner Poets

Hull’s Pub Corner Poets, are a collaboration of poets, writers and film makers based in Hull. Since starting last year they have put on a number of gigs at the New Aldelphi.

They have a new performance project in the pipeline, entitled Angry, a play written by resident playwright Josh Overton, featuring the spoken word and live music, planned for late October, so we’ll have more about that in our next issue.

The group was started by Tyler Mortimer and Josh Overton, who both had an interest in performance poetry and started collaborating with local musicians and artists to begin their journey. It all started at the New Adelphi Club, one evening in early November of last year.

Tyler got a few people who wanted to try out poetry and so they put on a gig. PCP has moved on leaps and bounds since that fateful evening, performing at clubs, coffee shops and bars and also building a partnership with another local spoken word night ‘Away with Words’. The next thing to conquer is the theatre and that is where the play Angry! comes in. They are trying to raise just under £2000 to put it on professionally.

If you’d like to support them in any way that you can, they’d appreciate it! To learn more, or to get involved, You can mail them on or find them on Facebook and Twitter (Pub Corner Poets) or visit their site:
