Hull Music Scene: La Bete Blooms

MUSIC La Bete Blooms Wishing I Could Kill large

La Bete Blooms have their new single, Wishing I Could Kill, released through the Adult Teeth recording Company, available now. Following suit from bands such as Eagulls and Orwells, the Hullbased five piece prepare for a busy summer, having spent the start of the year writing and recording, as well as supporting the likes of Jaws, Pins and Night Flowers. This new single continues with their dreamy aesthetic sound, influenced by such bands as The Cure and The Pixies, and is available as a free download, as a taster to their forthcoming EP, on Soundcloud, Spotify & iTunes, via The Adult Teeth Recording Company. The track (recorded by John Spence at Hull’s Fairview Studios) is to be followed up by the band’s debut EP this October and is the final chapter in a string of beautifully subtle reverb-drenched singles. The band will also be out on tour in UK throughout the summer, full dates TBC.

‘Hull-based five-piece La Bete Blooms are managing to carve their own niche in an increasingly crowded revivalist movement. Synergising elements of fabled artists such as Slowdive, Pale Saints and even the Pixies, this young band occupy an all-too-rare position in recognising those touchstones, without ever actually ‘borrowing’ from them.’ – Jonathan Cridford, One&Other
