Hull Music Scene: Oxjam @ Fruit, Saturday 22nd August

School’s out and summer’s here, so why not celebrate with some of the best up-and-coming local bands around – and help to raise money for a good cause while you’re doing it? Oxfam’s Oxjam Music Festivals are taking place at various locations across the UK, and thousands of volunteers are organising gigs in their own cities to raise money for the charity while showcasing the best of local talent.

This year’s Hull contribution, taking place at Fruit, promises an exciting and diverse array of artists from Hull and the surrounding areas. Indie rockers The Madisons take the stage as headliners, with infectious riffs and energetic live show. Also on the bill are blues-rock four-piece Joker, bringing a melodic, guitar-driven sound with husky vocals recalling the likes of The White Stripes and The Black Keys. Meanwhile, for those who like it a little heavier, there’s the metal/prog-rock stylings of Burn The Effigy – sure to create a mosh-pit!

All proceeds will go directly to Oxfam, and there’s sure to be a fantastic atmosphere as music fans of all tastes and ages come together to celebrate the thriving local music scene, whilst helping to fight global poverty and hunger. Tickets are available from Hull Box Office for just £5, but are selling out fast so get in there quickly to show your support! More information: Facebook event page:
